Building the Reman Legions
The Reman Legions were built using primarily two Games workshop Plastic Sprues: The 6th Ed. Empire Command Sprue & 6th Ed. Empire Soldiers Sprue.
The skirted Full Legs/torso and skirted legs only were used from the Command Sprue, then for each Command Sprue I used 2 Empire soldiers Sprues to get the second torso (fully armored plate), the helmeted heads with visors and segmented armor on the sides, the Swordsmen arms with puffy shirt that is onyl puffy at the top, and finally the Thigh guards were cut down to make shoulder armor. The foundry's historical line of Roman soldiers provided the shields needed (since GW doesn't make anything close enough to Roman shields).
The unit standard bearers were Leopard company standard bearers. Banners were made from the Space Marine Commander Plastic box. The Manus (Maniple Standard - "Hand") was made from an Ogre Musician. The Aquilifer Eagle Standard was made from the White Lions standard bearer and the Eagle was the Hawk from the Hochland Elector count. Musicians were regular soldiers with Space wolf pelts cut and puttied to meet the Goblin wolf Rider's wolf cloaks. The horns on the musicians were made from Bretonnian Men-at-Arms command.
The Tribune was made from the Mordheim Marienburger Captain on foot with the rod from Lord Solar Marcarius and a shield Swap.
The Centurions are the easiest to make as they are simply Lorenzo Lupo from the Dogs of War line with a shield swap.
So every 3 sprues that contained at least enough bits to make 11 models would form into 2 Reman Legionaries!
In addition, I used the Command Sprue legs and Empire general Lance in addition to the previous bits to make the Equites.
I used the Dwarf Catapult and Bolt Throwers for my War Machines (removing Dwarven icons as needed) and adding in a lighter-armed crew. The Onager used the Bretonnian Braizers as it's "Fire Pot." The Ballista used a cannon ball as it's stone projectile.
